Fundamental Gun Handling Rules

1. Always point the muzzle in a safe direction [down range].
2. Keep your finger off the trigger, and outside the trigger guard, until you are ready to fire.
3. Keep the action open and the firearm unloaded until ready to use.
4. Know your firearm and the ammunition. When at the shooting range with more than one firearm, use only one at a time, then store that firearm and its ammunition before using the next one.
5. Be sure of your target and what is around and beyond it.
6. Eye and ear protection are mandatory for all shooters and spectators.
7. The use of alcohol prior to, or during, any use of the range is strictly prohibited. Violators will be required to leave the range area.
8. Store all firearms so they are not accessible to unauthorized persons.

Club Range Rules

1. Know and obey all range commands.
2. Know where others are at all times.
3. No person goes forward of the firing line until all guns are in “safe” status and the command has been given to proceed beyond the firing line.
4. Be aware of, and obey, the range warning light safety system.
5. No gun handling is allowed while anyone is down range [forward of the firing line].
6. All firing is to be done at the forward edge of the firing line, with the muzzle beyond the forward edge of the concrete pad.
7. Shoot only at authorized targets.
8. Target frames are to be used to support targets, and are not to be fired at deliberately.
9. Ground level targets are not authorized. No shooting of rocks, pine cones, bottles, cans, boxes, or any other unauthorized items/targets.
10. In the absence of the range officer, shooters must designate a range officer. All shooters are expected to respect others while on club property.
11. Unload, open the action, remove the magazine and ground, bench, or holster all firearms during a cease fire.
12. Always keep the muzzle of firearms pointed down range toward the backstops. Never allow the muzzle to point in any direction where an accidental discharge would allow the escape of a projectile outside the range area.
13. Always sign in and pay proper range use fees as posted. Shooters who do not sign in and pay fees will be asked to leave.
14. Only one person is allowed at a shooting bench while firing a gun. This allows the range master to see all shooters.
15. Protect your right to shoot by observing these rules. Non-compliance will result in the loss of shooting privileges. Repeated infractions may result in loss of membership.
